REPUBLIC OF IRELAND STUDENT TELEVISION AWARDS 2024 | Royal Television Society
BCFE Animation Short, Tooth be Told, won the Animation category at the RTS Students Awards for 2024 held in Studio 4 RTE Donnybrook last night. This animated short film sits firmly in the horror genre and explores what happens when the tooth fairy collects children’s teeth – but also serves as a parable of how the lies parents tell children can take a dark turn, and the how subterranean mechanisms profit from those lies.
Tooth Be Told screened at the IFI Graduate showcase in May 2023, and is currently touring the festival circuit. The team of four Visual Media in Animation BA (hons) students’ are: Sarah Enright (Direction), Andrew Guilding (Animation), Mihai Rosca (VFX ), and Shannon Hegarty (Backgrounds and Storyboarding). Their skills, passion for craft, and strong teamworking abilities are clearly reflected in this animated short.
Produced by BCFE Staff Miriam Van Gelderen, Sound – Technician Larry O’Toole, Narrative Mentor – Sarah Anne Murphy-Aslepp; 3d Technical support – Denise Moylan, 2D Technical support – Eddie Hallahan, and Course Coordinator – Gwen Fagan. Special thanks to the SLT for their support.
