Unlocking LinkedIn for Young Creatives at Ballyfermot College
In today’s competitive job market, standing out is more important than ever, especially for young creatives breaking into the industry. That’s why Ballyfermot College of Further Education (BCFE) recently organized an exclusive visit for students to LinkedIn’s HQ in Dublin, for a session dedicated to mastering LinkedIn for personal and professional growth.
The November 5th event offered BCFE students an in-depth look at how to leverage LinkedIn’s tools to build a standout professional profile and effectively network in the digital space. LinkedIn’s own William Burke led the talk, guiding students through the essentials of profile setup, creating meaningful connections, and tracking analytics to grow their personal brand.
The session, lasting about an hour and a half, covered practical tips on using LinkedIn to forge connections in the creative industry. Students learned how to enhance their profiles to attract potential employers and collaborators. Following the presentation, a Q&A allowed students to deepen their understanding, gathering expert insights tailored to their needs as future content creators and entrepreneurs.
For students in the Photography and Content Creation program, this visit was especially valuable. Three students from the second-year class documented the day, capturing photos and video to share with the BCFE community. As young creatives, these students have started building professional identities, and this experience equipped them with actionable strategies to showcase their work, engage with industry professionals, and make the most of LinkedIn.
