Journalism Course student travels to Zambia with Simon Cumbers Media Fund
Journalism Course student Vanessa Manunga travels to Zambia this summer courtesy of the Simon Cumbers Media Fund. This fund financially supports journalists to report on issues in developing countries. The 27-year-old actress turned journalism student faced stiff competition from journalists all over the country. In the end, the judging panel were impressed with the passion she displayed. Her plan is to tell the story of child orphans in Zambia. As a result, Paddy Smyth of The Irish Times will be her mentor. We look forward to seeing Vanessa’s multimedia project online on irishtimes.com in the coming months.
Not a first!
This is not a first for BCFE: a few years ago BCFE Journalism Course student Jaketerina Saveljeva won Simon Cumbers Media Funding to go to Tanzania.
