BCFE Animation Graduate to receive Women in Animation Diversity Award

Nora Twomey, director of the upcoming animated picture ‘The
Breadwinner’, will receive the award at the Spark Animation Festival in Vancouver on Thursday. The picture, which will be released in the US next month, is about a young girl living under the Taliban regime. The film’s executive producer is none other than Angeline Jolie. Twomey dropped out of school at 15 and took a factory job before finding her calling studying animation at BCFE. In 1999 she co-founded Cartoon Saloon with fellow BCFE students Tomm Moore and Paul Young, who have already been nominated for two Oscars for their films ‘Song of the Sea’ and ‘The Secret of Kells’. Watch out for Nora Twomey at Oscars 2018!
