‘Shelly Banks’ wins Best 2D Short in Animation Dingle Student Category
Congratulations
Congratulations to recent graduates Alex Hughes, Caitlin O’Reilly, and Jack Hogan win Best 2D category for their final year short film ‘Shelly Banks’ at the 10th Annual Animation Dingle Festival this year.
The Story
This short film was conceived as a romantic tragedy: as a lonesome sailor sits in a damp seaside tavern, love seems to be in the air. Many drinks later, the jukebox plays a familiar song. The wistful sailor, overwhelmed by the effects of alcohol, falls deeply in love with something he sees in the distance. A fish.
Original Concept
The original concept for ‘Shelly Banks’ was written and directed by Alex Hughes, who’s also credited for storyboards, editing and compositing, sound design, as well as animation and layout lead. Caitlin O’Reilly performed the roles of production manager, animation lead, and layout. Jack Hogan was concept design and lead layout artist.
