BCFE Traditional Music Course Christmas Benefit Concert
Fáilte – welcome to the Ceoltóir Christmas concert 2020.
Ceoltóir is the Higher National Diploma in Traditional Music Peformance, offered by Ballyfermot College of Further Education in Dublin, Ireland.
BCFE Traditional Music Course organised a Christmas Benefit Concert for the Capuchin Day Centre, Bow St. Dublin. This Concert was recorded in BCFE under Covid restrictions.
Our concert features performances by first and second year students in the programme’s performance and instrument making streams. It was recorded live in the college over the course of one morning in mid-December, observing Covid-19 protocols. The use of screens and masks on stage may seem a little strange at first, and we hope they won’t take from your enjoyment of the performances. We thought it was important to show these, not least as a record of the physical measures we have had to adopt in college to be able to meet and play music together. We are delighted that we have been able to continue the programme’s academic activities safely this year, and we look forward to being able to make music together in more relaxed circumstances soon.
Our annual concert at this time of year normally takes place in the Cobblestone in Dublin, and we hope to be back there next year – thanks go to Tom Mulligan for his continuing support.
The Capuchin Day Centre provides vital services for homeless people in Dublin – we invite you to make a donation to them, through the link shown above.
We hope you will enjoy our performances, and we wish you and yours a very happy, peaceful and safe Christmas – Nollaig shona agus athbhlian faoi mhaise daoibh!
