Confirmed so far: a screening of student animation productions, which were generated across two academic years. Details may be added on other courses.
This year’s showcase includes a selection of short animation films which exhibit a diverse, yet innovative, series of narrative structure and digital application. Traditional storytelling, experiential statement and academic debate are equally expressed through strong research application, concept design and animation production skillsets.
This exhibition of graduate work is produced during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years from the BA Hons Visual Media Program of study.
These 2 academic years, animated shorts have referenced many issues associated with living in a Covid-19 lockdown.
Narrative themes debate youth issues, such as the game obsessed culture, where the fantastical that permeates urban humdrum is soberly balanced by the threat of a climate injustices culture, defense and survival. Themes and references are evidenced also against traditional rural and ethnic lifestyles and contemporary yet culturally diverse urban routines, presenting subjective terror and resilience in equal measure…
The showcase will be officially opened by Gisli Darri Halldórsson, BCFE alumnus and recently Oscar-nominated for Best Animated Short Film ‘Yes People’
Productions were in-progress since September 2019 and September 2020.
