BCFE Community Art Project.
Do you have an old photo that is damaged, that you would love to have restored?
The students at Ballyfermot College of Further Education might be able to help out…at no cost to you.
Portfolio students from Art Graphics & Printmaking along with students from Art Design and Three Dimensional Studies are offering this service to you as part of our Community Art program.

About the image:
The Lady is “Annie Flood” is he the great grandmother of Louise Boughton local to Ballyfermot and teacher at BCFE. The photo was taken on her wedding day sometime around 1920. She was from the Liberties originally and ended up living in Westland Row. She worked all her life as a seamstress and dresser for the Theatre Royal in Dublin and made costumes and dressed the stars of the day when they performed there, including Roy Rogers, Margot Fonteyne and Noel Purcell.
To avail of this offer:
Make contact with Brian Walsh at Brian.Walsh@bcfe.cdetb.ie and he will arrange a time when you can come to the college and have your photographed scanned, your photo will be returned to you immediately. The digitised images are then distributed amongst the students to restore and colourise. You will recieve a high resolution, digitized version of your photograph via email which you can then print, plus 1 print.
We are limited as to how many restorations we can complete, as the project runs for a limited number of weeks. It will operate on a first come, first severed bases.

Student don’t just do photo restoration, they also learn the fundaments of drawing, painting, photography, and design along with other modules. These programs a QQI accredited.
Many local people both young and not so young, have attended our portfolio courses at Ballyfermot College of Further Education and have gone on to higher education and gained full employment in various careers.
