This traineeship is the ideal course for community and political activists and those who volunteer in Community organisations, charities and advocacy groups.
This course is centred around practical skills applicable to nearly all political and advocacy areas. You will develop an understanding of how national, regional, and local political systems and organisations work and interact and how to engage with them effectively.
You will gain the requisite skills to operate effectively as a community or organisational political planner or leader and exhibit ability and awareness of Irish and European societies. Participants will, with direction, develop leadership skills for community or voluntary sectors or in organisations engaged in campaigning and advocacy. Relevant communication skills and the ability to plan campaigns, to lobby to achieve goals will be encouraged during the duration of this course.
You are also required to complete work experience with a relevant political, community or advocacy organisation. This course is a one-year (48 week) traineeship. You will be on practical placement for 12 weeks and the remainder of the course will be completed in BCFE.

- Graduates of this course may apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to higher and advanced certificate and degree programmes at national Institutes of Technology, Technological Universities and Universities such as to NCAD, DIT and IADT, (applicants should confirm linked awards and eligibility requirements with the relevant Higher Education Institution).
