About this event
Music and storytelling are integral to Ireland’s rich history, and Irish artists have a global reputation for their cultural contributions. Every noteworthy musical journey has a beginning, and here is where the story starts for emerging musical talents and songwriters from Dublin. Presented by Ballyfermot College’s Contemporary Music Department, Emergence is a showcase of sixteen acts currently working in the renowned Dublin college. Since 1989, this annual event has introduced names such as Damien Dempsey, Lisa O’Neil, Wallis Bird, Junior Brother, Lucy Blue and Roe Byrne to the wider world – providing memorable moments in some of Dublin’s most iconic venues along the way.
This year’s gathering promises to uphold this tradition, spanning two nights and spotlighting the burgeoning talent thriving within one of Ireland’s most successful modern music schools. The shows will feature those who have already began to make a name for themselves on the music scene – Eddie Winston, Michelle Gahan, Anna Shokur, Kuara and Afterthought. There will be a wide variety of music to suit different tastes from pop, rock and folk to neo-soul and jazz.
Spanning two years, the HND in Contemporary Music Performance caters to aspiring professional musicians seeking to deepen their understanding of the music industry while refining their artistic and business acumen. Guided by seasoned musicians and industry experts, students not only acquire essential knowledge but also forge meaningful connections with peers who share their passion. The unique programme fosters an environment that champions individuality and encourages students to chart their unique path in the world of music.
