Traditional Music Course Graduate Daoiri Darrell Wins BBC Folk Awards

Daoiri Farrell, Traditional Music Course Graduate, Wins 2 BBC Folk Awards

Daoiri Farrell, Traditional Music Course Graduate, wins two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Daoiri had been nominated in 3 Categories. On the night he won, Best Traditional Track  for the track  Van Diemen’s Land from his new album  ‘True Born Irishman’  (featuring BCFE’s own Pat Daly and Tony Byrne). He also won the Horizon Award for best new artist. Daoiri very graciously thanked the college in his acceptance speech last night.

Performance

Daoiri and his band (featuring  Pat Daly and Tony Byrne) performed  Van Diemen’s Land on stage in the Royal Albert Hall last night. Ry Cooder, Billy Bragg and Al Stewart also performed on the night. Full details can be found on BBC Radio 2 Folk Music Awards
